SUMMARY:GSAPP Webinar - Practical Tools for Treating Body Dissatisfaction and Eating Disorders
DESCRIPTION:This introductory continuing education webinar gives participants practical tools for recognizing and responding to body dissatisfaction and eating-disorder concerns in everyday clinical work. Participants will learn how to ask effective screening questions\, spot red flags across different ages and presentations\, and document risk in a clear\, clinically useful way. The training focuses on concrete interventions—language that reduces shame and skills to shift clients toward values-based coping. Participants will leave with guidance for managing common treatment snags\, including ambivalence\, secrecy\, family dynamics\, and social media triggers. The webinar concludes with actionable next steps for safety planning\, referrals\, and level-of-care decisions\, and coordinating care with medical and nutrition providers. \nParticipants will be able to: \n\nIdentify and assess body dissatisfaction and eating-disorder risk using practical screening questions\, observable red flags\, and clear documentation practices.\nCorrect at least two longstanding myths about eating disorders.\nImplement in-session interventions that reduce shame and unhelpful body-focused behaviors while strengthening values-based coping and adaptive skills.\nExplain two reasons\, shown by research\, why these disorders can be so persistent and thus challenging to treat.\nIdentify at least three ways you can be helpful to clients with eating disorders.\n\nFor more information and registration\, click here.

SUMMARY:Addiction Policy Forum Webinar - Alcohol Use Disorder: Addressing the Special Needs of Women and Understanding Recovery Trajectories and Relapse
DESCRIPTION:Women with alcohol use disorder (AUD) may face unique barriers to care\, including stigma\, caregiving responsibilities\, co-occurring mental health conditions\, trauma exposure\, and limited access to services designed to meet their needs. Understanding these factors is essential to improving equitable access to effective\, person-centered treatment. \nThis webinar will examine alcohol use and AUD among women in the United States\, with a focus on the evidence base for treatment and clinical considerations that may shape women’s experiences when seeking care. Participants will learn about evidence-based behavioral and medication interventions\, as well as clinical and recovery support that can promote treatment engagement and sustained recovery. \nThe session will also explore recovery as a dynamic\, long-term process. Presenters will review widely used models of recovery\, recovery trajectories\, and current research on recurrence of alcohol use\, including factors that may increase risk and those that may support long-term wellness. \nSpeakers \n\nShelly Greenfield\, M.D.\, MPH\, Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School; Director of Alcohol\, Drug and Addiction Clinical and Health Services Research Program at McLean Hospital\nJohn F. Kelly\, Ph.D.\, ABPP\, Elizabeth R. Spallin Professor of Psychiatry in the Field of Addiction Medicine at Harvard Medical School; Founder and Director of the Recovery Research Institute\nRedonna Chandler\, Ph.D.\, Scientific Advisor\, Addiction Policy Forum\n\nFor more information\, click here.
